Igniting Futures, Shaping Global Citizens

In the heart of Panama, Balboa Academy stands as a beacon of excellence in education since its founding in 1999. Born from the visionary minds of educators with deep roots in the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS), Balboa Academy has flourished into a prestigious, private day college-prep school that welcomes students from PK-3 through to 12th grade and into a world where academic excellence meets global citizenship.

With English as the cornerstone of our US standards-based curriculum, we open doors to global opportunities for our students, nurturing them to become articulate, thoughtful leaders prepared to make their mark on the world. Accredited by the world's largest accrediting agency Cognia, Balboa Academy exceeds the highest benchmarks of educational quality. This prestigious accreditation guarantees our students' access to top colleges and universities worldwide, affirming our commitment to providing an education that truly knows no boundaries.

At Balboa Academy, we believe in the power of community and continuous improvement. Our entire community—students, educators, and families—are actively engaged in a school improvement process that reflects our dedication to excellence and adherence to the highest standards set forth by Cognia and the Panamanian Ministry of Education (MEDUCA). As a MEDUCA-recognized institution, we not only comply with but thrive under the legal and policy frameworks designed for private, independent schools in Panama.

Join us at Balboa Academy, where we are not just educating the next generation of leaders; we are inspiring them to build a brighter, more connected world.

A Message from our Head of School

head of clayton school balboa

I am absolutely honored and thrilled to be Balboa Academy's Head of School!

With a career in education spanning since 1988, I've had the incredible pleasure of working with the amazing students, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents of Balboa Academy since our doors opened in September 1999.

Originally from the United States, I proudly call Panama my home since moving here with my wife and children in 1996. Both of my children are proud graduates of Balboa Academy, and my wife dedicated twenty wonderful years teaching in the elementary school.

My academic journey includes an undergraduate degree in Education with a focus on science and a master's degree in Educational Leadership. While I've spent many fulfilling years in the classroom, for more than a decade I have been passionately embracing roles in administration.

Education is my true calling, fueled by a deep passion for learning and working with children. I find immense fulfillment in this career and am eagerly looking forward to working with each and every one of you!

Let's make this journey together truly extraordinary!
